TRIP TO BERGAMO AND VALENCIA, SPRING 2008

My friend Frank de Kruijf, who also came over to Thailand in 2007, was accompanying me on this trip which we started on Wednesday 9th April 2008. On that morning we took a Ryanair flight from Eindhoven International Airport to Bergamo, a town in Lombardy, Italy about 40km northeast of Milan.

One day later we caught a plane to Spain, where we visited the city of Valencia for about four days. On this website I published some of the pictures we took during the trip we made. Thumbnails are displayed below and once you click on it a larger version will appear. We have had a great time in both Bergamo and Valencia and are looking forward coming back one day.

Ryanair plane ready to depart at Eindhoven International Airport Just arrived at Bergamo (North Italy) The Cappella Colleoni, a old church located in Bergamo Alta (the old part of the town)

On top of the la torre del Campanone near Piazza Vecchia square. View of the upper city and historic centre of Bergamo (Alta district) Quit hard to find in the old town: good nightlife. On the picture the upper city surrounded by Venetian walls built in the 17th century.

The Valencia harbor from above. ( Puerto Autonomo de Valencia)

Plane view of City of Arts and Sciences, an impressive example of modern architecture.

Frank took this nice picture of the Queen Sofia Palace of the Arts, which is an opera house and cultural centre in Valencia.

The Valencia bullring in the centre of the city. Unfortunately no bullfight took place during our stay.       Drinking beer in the lively El Carmen district can be very expensive. So before going out we used to drink some beer at this square where the guy displayed on the picture above sold them for just one euro.

Playing football in front of Estadio Mestalla home ground of Valencia F.C. A palm tree might look nice but doesn't really feel nice! Street near Plaza del Ayuntamiento square. Close to our appartment.       The 15th century Serrano and Quart towers are part of what was once the wall surrounding of the city.
These are very nice people from Spain we met on our second day in Valencia. We have had great fun going out together! Take a look at the picture. Teresa from Spain showed us this rare sculpture after going out in the El Carmen district. In front of Plaza del Ayuntamiento square. It's not difficult to see where we are coming from.

Playing football on the beach. Penalty shootout game. Main entrance of Estadio Mestalla Stadium.

Few moments after our interview, broadcasted live on Spanish television.

On Saturday we attended the match of Valencia CF against Racing Santander which they lost 1-2. This Russian girl serves the best kebab in Valencia. So once you are there head to the Mar Negro3 Kabap store. This is a picture you won't take so easily in Holland due to strict security measures.

If you are in Spain you should try Tequila.
